An architectural education prepares students for a variety of career opportunities within the field, as well as outside of the traditional realm of the profession. Join the AIAS for a panel discussion with professionals who have taken non-traditional career paths and hear how their education and experience in architecture helped them get to where they are now.

Way back in October 2020, I discussed some ideas around the elastic workplace and leveraging data to allow owners, operators, and workers to be much more dynamic with their decision-making process. As part of the panel, I some examples of AR/VR experiences, that allow trades-workers/applicators to learn remotely.

Introducing the DC|PR Mentorship Series

Beginning in 2013, the AIA|DC chapter undertook an initiative to develop a program which would help train and nurture the next generation of leaders. With the success of the previous program years, the Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program looks to secure a promising new faction of scholars in 2020 – 2021. The year-long program consists of nine individual half-day sessions attended by a competitively selected group of 16 emerging professionals (an emerging professional is defined as someone who has graduated from college with an architecture degree and is within 10 years of their first licensure). Prospective participants must go through an application process for selection where proven career success, community involvement and the individual’s firm support will be considered.

In 2018 at AIA Grassroots, the AIA|DC CKLDP was recognized with the recognized with the AIA CACE Component Excellence Award for Knowledge Sharing Initiatives.
